Case Study Brita - Right first time, on-time delivery, flawless! - Tim Henry, Brita

A totally new proposition, so where do we start?

The client

Brita WaterBrita are a household name in the UK and around the world, renowned for their market leading status in the production of water filter jugs and water filtration on a global scale.

A digital route to market

Brita were looking for more than just a web agency, they needed a digital partner that understood supply chain management and could think strategically about how technology could meet the needs of the business. They needed an agency that would challenge the brief and help them to define the solution they required. The new product to be launched was the Brita inline tap, a tap that can be installed in your sink providing Brita filtered water ‘on tap’!

The challenge was how to launch this new innovation and make the best use of their existing retail outlets.

Brita didn't wish to place a large product on the shelves of high street shops, a blister pack containing a voucher was sold in end of aisle point of sale displays. The voucher was to be redeemed online through the site identifying the retailer from where the product was bought and initiating the installation at the customers’ home.

Complex and technical

Bespoke ecommerce build, Back office integration, Siebel CRM

Bloom Media initially worked with Brita to clearly define the requirements for the project. We helped Brita to select an appropriate CRM system (an oracle based solution) and developed a sophisticated ecommerce system that could convert visitors from their own direct marketing and also handle conversions via Brita's affiliate partners and manage the commission reports for these affiliates. All orders and enquiries are seamlessly passed through to the Oracle CRM system for fulfilment.

An SEO campaign was also commissioned ensuring the site was visible on the search engines.

Over the years the system has evolved and now retails large volumes of their wider product range and functions as a critical sales tool for the organisation.

Increased revenue

7 figure turnover

The new website allowed effective recruitment of affiliate partners to help promote the new product, allowed transparent tracking of both partner activity and direct marketing efforts. The revenue received via the site had grown steadily over time and now represents a major source of income for the business.

  • Right first time, on-time delivery of a large and sophisticated ecommerce platform
  • Significant additional revenue for the company
  • In addition to the filter taps the system has now been used to promote and sell the ‘traditional’ Brita filter jugs and cartridges to visitors from their retail affiliates acting as a virtual ecommerce solution for their partners.

Team Insight

This project was particularly interesting and a great opportunity to work across all layers of technology from defining the business processes, system architecture, specification, hosting, development through to the site launch and ongoing support and evolution of the system. This project is as complex as they come and thoroughly rewarding to work on.
